CTTA again organises another major international event, this time European Youth Championship, which moves into the Czech Republic after four years
We can say, that EYC is organised in four-year cycle, we held EYC in Prague between 2005 and 2009. For 2013 we have chosen Ostrava as the organizing city, as we found excellent conditions here. The Championship will take place in the winter stadium in Ostrava-Poruba from 12th to 21st July 2013.Since we would like to bring the youth table tennis to everybody as much as possible, there will be a free entrance throughout all EYC. We expect that many children and parents will come to see the top youth table tennis, and we would like to present the table tennis like a sport available to all. "I would like to thank very much to the Statutory City of Ostrava and the Moravian-Silesian Region who greatly helped in securing this year's championship," thanked Nikolas Endal director of EYC Ostrava 2013.
"We expect that the championship will attract more than five-houndred players from forty-seven countries of Europe", said Endal. There will be contest for a twelve titles total in the junior categories (players under 18) and older pupils (players under 15 years), and in competitions of teams, singles and doubles. At last year's European Championships in Austria Swechatu Ondřej Bajger and Tamara Tomanová gained silver medal in juniors mixed doubles. "I hope that this year nominated players will follow up on last year's success and even in Ostrava there will stand on the podium as many of our athletes," wishes Endal. A lot of the players with the Region who are among the pillars of youth representation will certainly head to the championship and all the domestic are looking forward the championship very much.
